Hazel Marie Schmaltz

HAZEL M. SCHMALTZ (nee Usher) age 96 passed away peacefully January 3, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Herman; loving mother of Don (Linda), Doug (KIA-Vietnam) and Jon DeBruin (Dianne-deceased); cherished grandmother of Amy Schmaltz Johnson (Josh), Paul and Becky Schmaltz; Eric DeBruin (Vickie) and Erin DeBruin Hulshizer (Doug) and Great-grandmother of five. Hazel was a farm girl from Maquoketa, IA, WWII Navy (Wave) Veteran and a Gold Star Mother. She was a Parma resident since 1949 and she grew awesome gardens and beautiful memories. She will be remembered as the best baker of birthday tortes, a seamstress and a fantastic quilter. Hazel was happiest surrounded by family and friends and will always be remembered for her loving heart. A special thanks to The Parma VA-Dr. Hovis, Shawn, Al and Tess.
