Sep 28, 1934 — Jul 3, 2026

Eugene Nebesh, age 91, peacefully passed away July 3rd, 2026. Beloved husband of +Ingrid Lydia (deceased); loving father of Bohdan Nebesh (Darka), +Chrystyna Jatsyshyn (deceased) (Taras) and Adrianna Lisowsky (Danylo); cherished grandfather of Solomia (Ryan), Paul, Lydia (Ruslan), Dmytro, Julianna (Maksym), Nina, Andrew, Michael, Johnny, and great grandfather of Maria; family to Tania Keis, Oksana Tarasiuk, Olenka, Taras, Markian, Roksolana, and Danylo Toporowych. He was preceded in death by his brother +Orest Nebesh (+Maria).

Eugene (Evhen) was a man of profound resilience, strong faith, deep community devotion, and boundless love for his family. Born on September 28, 1934, in Nadvirna, Ukraine, his early life was shaped by the turbulence of World War II. As a child, he fled Ukraine with his family, living in a displaced persons camp in Mittenwald, Germany, before immigrating to the United States in 1949 and settling in Cleveland, Ohio.

Eugene was a lifelong learner who dedicated his intellect to both science and the law. After earning his Bachelor’s (Fenn College) and Master’s (Case Institute of Technology) degrees in Chemical Engineering, he enjoyed a successful professional career in the research and development of catalysts, resulting in multiple patents.

He honorably served his adopted country in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. Following his military service, he earned his JD (Cleveland-Marshall College of Law). Guided by a deep sense of purpose and passion for justice, he used his legal expertise part-time to provide essential legal services to Ukrainian immigrants.

Eugene’s heart belonged to his heritage and his local community in Parma, Ohio, where he was an active pillar for his entire adult life. He was a longtime parishioner, supporter, and volunteer at St. Andrew’s Ukrainian Catholic Church; a lifelong member of Plast, Ukrainian Scouting Organization, in which he participated from his youth through adulthood as a member of Burlaky, in numerous leadership roles, guiding generations of young Ukrainian-Americans. He served as a volunteer championing cultural education and community enrichment in the Ukrainian Educational Council USA.

Eugene found his greatest joy in his family. He was a fiercely loyal husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Family gatherings were always the center of his world—vibrant affairs filled with laughter and love. He leaves a legacy of grandchildren who follow his example of kindness, wit, and a strong moral compass towards justice and fairness.

Eugene was a patient teacher who loved passing down skills to his children and grandchildren. Whether he was teaching them the strategic nuances of chess, the form for tennis, ping pong, pool, ice skating, skiing, or bowling—or even the proper way to mow the lawn—he infused every lesson with patience and love.
