Edward J. White Jr.

Survived by his loving wife, Carol, nephews Keith and wife Dana Roberts, Steve Roberts, brother-in-law, Robert Formica brother-in-law, Art Bouhall and nephews, Chris and wife Marybeth Bouhall, Tim and wife Kim Bouhall, niece Diane Bouhall.

Those who have predeceased him: Grandfathers and Grandmothers, Father, Edward White Sr., Mother, Jessie White, Sister, Irene Formica, Nephew, Rick Roberts, Sister-in-Law, Trudi Bouhall.

Ed attended Cleveland State University's Fenn College of Engineering for Electrical Engineering and graduated with honors both in his undergraduate and graduate degrees. His nephew Keith shared that his Uncle was not only highly intelligent, but inspired him to be an electrical engineer as well. He was very proud of his education and career in engineering starting with HoneyWell which led to a long-term career with CEI, where he led a group of 25 people in the design of a first-ever special control system. He said he worked hard for the two of them and was proud he could take care of Aunt Carol.

Ed was at peace his last days, sharing how much it meant to have Fr. Bill with him several times these past months to pray with him, give communion, and share his renewed faith in the Catholic Church and beliefs in heaven.

Ed and Carol had the chance to talk and share how much they loved each other via facetime shortly before he passed. They were married October 3, 1981 - almost 45 years! Ed shared that he met Aunt Carol on a blind date through friends. He chuckled lightly when telling me that a little after they started dating, Aunt Carol tried to dump him. I asked him what changed her mind and he said she was smart and came to her senses. Cooking was something he enjoyed after taking some gourmet cooking classes. I remember several exceptional Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners at their house with all of our family over the years.

Ed loved their dog Belle dearly and he and Aunt Carol had many fun years with her; he loved dogs and shared how much he enjoyed "dog-sitting" for family and friends over the years and always enjoyed seeing pictures and hearing tales of our family's dogs. Ed shared stories with Diane and Art his last days about traveling with Aunt Carol in the early years of their marriage; they went to Niagara Falls for their honeymoon where the weather wasn't great, but later traveled to California- the best resort in the desert! They attended a German Festival in Baltimore, and the SkyDome in Toronto was his favorite. He loved Toronto and said that was their favorite trip together.

He also shared a story about his Grandpa and his Dad taking a horse and carriage into town years ago when he lived in Berea. HIs Dad grew up on a farm and taught himself about cars and mechanics. His nephew Keith shared he thinks that his Grandfather's ingenuity rubbed off on Uncle Ed and that's what led him to become an engineer. The nurse caring for him at the time chimed in to share there are still a lot of horses in Berea and they have shows in that area, which Uncle Ed found interesting. He was surrounded by some wonderful providers and caregivers in his last days at Metro that he made a connection with, and joked with the nurse about his name.

He enjoyed sharing special times with Aunt Carol, such as when she rode a camel, how beautiful her wedding dress and veil were (& he remembered the veil the shop owner made cost more than her dress)!. Over the years, they shared a lovely home with a beautiful yard, enjoying the deer and rabbits the birds that would visit. It was important to always feed the birds. Watching bird shows and the dog shows each Thanksgiving Holiday were favorite things to do together, reading books on birds and dogs and sharing their love of animals. They often spoke of the veterinarian show they watched together.

The other day I was listening to the radio- the 80s- and Weird Al Yankovic came on- does anyone remember how he loved him? I laughed.... He had a sense of humor, no doubt. He also loved Enya and Celtic Women.

Last, he shared with me he was so glad Aunt Carol would get to go to Danbury and hoped she would enjoy peaceful days there, that he believed he had a very good life, a strange life in ways, but he hoped he had "done it right" and that there was a place for him in heaven, which he believes there is, and.... that it couldn't have been better because he got to be with Aunt Carol and share it with her!
